In July 2026, Ruzanna’s carefree childhood changed abruptly when she was diagnosed with aplastic anemia, a serious condition in which the bone marrow is unable to produce enough blood cells.

Today, Ruzanna and her family are facing a major emotional and financial challenge. The family cannot fully cover the costs of the examinations, vital medication, and ongoing treatment she needs.

Ruzanna is currently receiving the necessary treatment at the Yolyan Hematology and Oncology Center of the Ministry of Health of Armenia. The next important step is genetic testing to confirm or rule out congenital bone marrow failure syndromes. Two of the required tests are not available in Armenia, so Ruzanna’s blood sample is planned to be sent to Moscow. The total cost of the genetic tests is 243,000 AMD.

Given the severity of the disease and the significant suppression of blood cell production in her bone marrow, Ruzanna urgently needs immunosuppressive treatment, including ATGAM. The planned course requires 15 vials. The medication is not available in Armenia and is expensive. At this stage, 1,005,000 AMD is needed to purchase it. The family has already covered part of the medication cost.

Ruzanna also continues to have severe thrombocytopenia. Until blood production in her bone marrow recovers, she needs platelet concentrate transfusions to reduce the risk of bleeding complications and allow her treatment to continue. The transfusions are planned once a week for three months. The total amount needed for this period is 2,160,000 AMD.
