The residents of Lusakunk village are forced to travel several kilometers every day to buy bread and other baked goods from nearby communities. Bread for the village kindergarten and school is also delivered from neighboring towns. This situation makes one of the most essential everyday foods — bread — difficult for people to access.

Seeing this problem, Grandma Astghik decided to create a small bakery in Lusakunk so that the village’s children and residents could have fresh, high-quality, and affordable bread every day without having to travel long distances. At the same time, this initiative will create jobs for women in the village and offer them a new opportunity to stay and work in their own community.

Grandma Astghik is no longer young, yet she has managed to overcome many stereotypes and find the strength within herself to think about the well-being of the whole community. When someone at her age comes forward with such an initiative, we truly have a responsibility to stand by her and help bring this important idea to life.
