On September 25, Arevik was at home when she heard the powerful explosion of a fuel depot.
Knowing that her husband had also been at the site of the explosion, she rushed to the hospital alone. Being in the final stage of pregnancy, she witnessed some of the most heartbreaking scenes there.

Arevik was left alone with her little daughter. In critical condition, the pregnant mother and her young child were airlifted to Armenia. Her last hope was to recognize her husband among the unidentifiable wounded on the helicopter — but in vain.

Weeks later, DNA testing confirmed the devastating truth: Hrant had lost his life.

Forty days after his father’s death, baby Hrant was born. He was named Hrant in honor of his father.
