About

Monika is nine years old. She has been diagnosed with periventricular leukomalacia and focal structural epilepsy. The disease has a severe clinical course: it is resistant to medication (pharmacoresistant) and is manifested by frequent seizures.

Over the years, multiple-drug treatment (polytherapy) has proven ineffective. Ongoing seizures not only endanger the child’s health but also severely limit her quality of life and developmental potential.

As the sixth child in a large family, Monika has always been surrounded by care and attention, yet years of struggle have still not brought the desired results.

At present, the real option for controlling Monika’s seizures is deep brain stimulation (DBS). This medical intervention can stop or significantly reduce the frequency of seizures, improve the child’s functional condition, and create the foundation for stable development.

Your support today is vital. It will make it possible to carry out the necessary surgery and give Monika the chance for a seizure-free and full childhood.
