About

Maria has been diagnosed with Lennox Gastaut syndrome, the most severe form of epilepsy.

In 2017, Maria was hospitalized in critical condition with a deep impairment of consciousness and epileptic seizures. After extensive examinations, she was diagnosed with encephalitis, a severe inflammation of the brain. Following the illness, Maria developed structural epilepsy.

She has received multiple anti seizure medications, but the seizures continued. She was later referred to Bulgaria, where a stereo EEG study was performed to assess the possibility of surgical treatment.

Unfortunately, because no single epileptogenic focus was identified, surgery was not possible. To this day, Maria remains on polytherapy and continues to experience multiple seizures every day.

Today, you can change Maria’s future by giving her the chance to undergo deep brain stimulation (DBS), a procedure that can reduce seizures and significantly improve her quality of life.

Deep brain stimulation is a neurosurgical procedure in which electrodes are placed in specific areas of the brain to regulate abnormal nerve signals. It is commonly used to treat Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, and other severe movement disorders.

The surgery is financially out of reach for Maria’s family. With your support, Maria can have the chance to live a fuller and healthier life.

By donating today, you can change the destiny of a child with great potential.
Donate today and help Maria overcome epilepsy once and for all.
