About
The boy in the photo is 4-year-old Vardan. He loves drawing, playing with his little brother, and spending time with his friends at the playground.
In July 2025, Vardan was diagnosed with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) with an acute course. He received hormonal treatment and was discharged from the hospital in satisfactory condition.
However, some time later, Vardan’s condition worsened again, and he was hospitalized once more. Further examinations revealed severe thrombocytopenia. Despite receiving different treatments, the response was not sufficient. There was only a short-term improvement, after which his platelet count dropped again to a dangerously low level. Severe thrombocytopenia significantly increases the risk of bleeding.
Vardan has now been prescribed Elopag, a medication used when ITP has a prolonged course and the response to previous treatments is insufficient.
Vardan’s treatment is expected to be long-term, and the cost of the necessary medication is a significant burden for the family. To provide him with a one-year supply of Elopag, 715,000 AMD is needed.
In addition, to assess Vardan’s condition more fully and refine the strategy for his further treatment, he needs to undergo whole exome sequencing (WES). The purpose of the test is to rule out or identify genetic causes related to inherited thrombocytopenias, as well as quantitative or functional platelet disorders. The cost of the test is 315,000 AMD.
Altogether, 1,030,000 AMD is needed for Vardan’s one-year supply of medication and the necessary genetic test.
Despite his young age, Vardan has already been through a long journey in his fight for health. Today, our support can help him receive the medication he needs, undergo this important test, and give doctors a clearer basis for planning his further treatment.
Let us help Vardan continue his treatment and return to the carefree everyday life where he can simply draw, play with his little brother and friends, and enjoy his childhood.
