About

Many of you already know 12-year-old Romela. Earlier this year, thanks to your support, she was able to undergo the genetic testing she needed, which finally helped clarify the cause of her health condition.

The results showed that Romela has Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy type 2, as well as dilated cardiomyopathy. Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy is a genetic condition that causes progressive muscle weakness. Unfortunately, there is currently no treatment that can cure the disease, but regular physiotherapy and rehabilitation can help preserve muscle function as much as possible and slow the effects of muscle weakness.

Today, Romela has muscle weakness on one side of her body, which has made even her favorite activity — drawing — difficult. However, appropriate and continuous rehabilitation can help her preserve the abilities she still has and remain as independent as possible in her daily life.

Romela now needs a course of rehabilitation treatment, which costs 256,000 AMD.

Last time, together we helped Romela get the answers she needed for her diagnosis. This time, let us help her take the next important step — begin the rehabilitation she needs and preserve her mobility as much as possible.
