About
Meet Mariam, a 2-year-and-8-month-old girl who is full of life, energy, and joy. She loves drawing, caring for animals, and, above all, playing with her brother and sister.
In spring, her mother noticed an unusual sign: a white glow in Mariam’s eye and sensitivity to light. This changed the family’s carefree life forever. Further examinations confirmed a serious diagnosis: retinoblastoma, a malignant eye tumor that threatens Mariam’s life and vision.
Every day is now critical. The disease can progress rapidly, and continuing treatment abroad is essential to saving Mariam’s sight and life. At Jordan’s renowned King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), Mariam has already undergone the necessary examinations and received her first course of intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC).
Her treatment is being coordinated between Armenia and Jordan. At the Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center of the RA Ministry of Health, she has received the necessary chemotherapy and continues to be monitored by doctors. In Jordan, she will receive specialized treatment that is not available in Armenia. Specialists at both centers are working closely together to ensure a coordinated and appropriate treatment plan.
Mariam’s treatment includes additional courses of intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC) for her left eye, as well as a total of 13 examinations under anesthesia (EUA) to assess the progress and outcomes of her treatment.
The total amount needed is approximately AMD 26,722,183 (around $74,346) to cover her treatment over the coming months and travel expenses for 13 visits. The family is covering accommodation, food, and interpreter services themselves.
This amount is an overwhelming burden for one family, but together, we can raise it in just a few days. Our collective support can completely change Mariam’s future.
