Haykaz is a student at the secondary school in the village of Atan. For years, the school had no mathematics teacher, leaving students without the opportunity to properly study the subject, develop curiosity for it, or access the professional paths it could open for them.

Thanks to the “Teach for Armenia” teacher-leader program, Atan found Meri — a bright and dedicated educator who opened the world of numbers to the children.

Meri’s mission is to help students apply their knowledge beyond the classroom — in their daily lives, in their village, and within their community — using mathematical thinking to solve real local challenges.

For Meri, teaching in Atan has become a way to contribute to the development of her homeland and to express her patriotism through action.
