Edgar is only 18 years old, yet he is already facing serious health challenges. In addition to type 1 diabetes (insulin-dependent diabetes), he also has autoimmune encephalitis, an inflammation of the brain.

Edgar is cared for by his single mother. They are in a financially vulnerable situation and live in rented housing.

To maintain and improve Edgar’s quality of life, he needs regular membrane plasmapheresis sessions. We have already helped provide him with nine sessions, which had a positive effect and helped stabilize his condition. Edgar needs to repeat this treatment every three months, but its cost is beyond what he and his mother can afford.
