This smiling little boy is 3-year-old Areg. He loves riding his bike and playing with the children in his neighborhood. Areg is a very active and cheerful child who always brings joy to the people around him.

In July 2026, Areg developed general weakness, a burning sensation around his mouth, and excessive salivation. His parents also noticed unusual discoloration inside his mouth and immediately took him to the hospital. Doctors diagnosed him with acute ammonia poisoning.

After treatment, Areg’s overall condition improved and he was discharged from the hospital. However, tests showed elevated liver enzymes, specifically transaminases. Further examinations also returned positive results for herpes virus and parvovirus B19.

Doctors now need to determine the cause of the changes in his liver. To confirm or rule out hepatitis of unknown origin and assess possible hereditary causes, Areg needs to undergo genetic testing of selected genes.
