About

Camila is a vibrant 8-year-old who loves singing and playing soccer. She knows all the prominent football players in the world! However, playing soccer is becoming increasingly difficult for her because of Achondroplasia, a genetic condition that affects a protein in her body called the fibroblast growth factor receptor.

This abnormal function slows down bone growth in the cartilage of the growth plates, leading to significantly shorter arms and legs. It also impacts her psychological well-being, as avoiding strangers' stares makes her feel bad, even though her classmates love and appreciate her. Despite these challenges, Camila dreams of having long arms and legs to enjoy everyday activities more easily.

She needs a crucial surgery at the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Phthisiopulmonology in Russia. This procedure will involve Ilizarov devices to lengthen her bones, giving her the mobility and confidence she longs for. After this surgery, she can play soccer as much as she wants and keep it as her hobby, while also reaching her goal of becoming a doctor and helping others in need!

Your support can help Camila achieve her dream. Become her hero today!
