About
The little girl in the photo is 8-year-old Sona. She loves drawing and playing music, but from a very early age she has had to face serious health problems.
Since she was 9 months old, Sona has suffered from repeated infections, including bronchitis, urinary tract infections, unexplained fevers, and many hospitalizations. From the age of 5, she also began experiencing intestinal problems and abdominal pain. Over the years, she has undergone many different examinations and received various treatments, but doctors still do not fully understand the underlying cause of her condition.
With the support of Health Fund for Children of Armenia, Sona was previously tested for possible congenital disorders of the immune system, but no genetic cause responsible for her illness was identified. Her case was also discussed with doctors abroad, and because of the repeated and difficult-to-control infections, Sona began regular treatment with immunoglobulin. This brought partial clinical improvement, but in order to determine the most appropriate treatment and follow-up going forward, doctors need a clearer understanding of the possible cause of her illness.
For this reason, Sona now needs whole genome sequencing (WGS).
The cost of the test is 680,000 AMD, and the family is unable to cover it on their own.
At this stage, Sona needs our support.
Let us help her undergo this important test so that doctors can better understand her condition and choose the most appropriate path for her treatment.
